IF YOU EXPERIENCE A SEWER BACKUP
When experiencing a sewer backup, please contact the District at 847-526-3300 before calling a plumber. Our personnel will respond to assess the problem. Sometimes the blockage is in the District’s sewer line and we can quickly open the main. If it is determined that the blockage is in the private service line, a plumber should be called. If the blockage is between the house and the sanitary sewer main, all necessary repairs and restoration are the responsibility of the homeowner.

If you are a resident of Port Barrington’s low pressure system, and should your alarm box for your sanitary sewer system go off or if you have an emergency situation with your system, please follow these procedures:
During normal business hours:
Contact the NMWRD at 847-526-3300.
After business hours or on weekends:
Call the Port Barrington Village Hall at 847-639-7595. Give the answering service your name, address and phone number and a brief description of the emergency. The service will contact NMWRD and you will receive a call back and assistance from the NMWRD employee on call.
