The District’s treatment plant has been in operation since 1978 and operates under the State of Illinois’ Sanitary District Act of 1917. Today we provide sanitary sewer service and wastewater treatment to more than 15,000 people across Lakemoor, Port Barrington and Island Lake. We operate and maintain 23 pump stations, 77 miles of sanitary sewer mains and the 36-acre Water Resource Recovery Facility site with a design average capacity of 2 million gallons per day.
The District is a regional wastewater treatment agency. We treat wastewater for 3 communities: Island Lake, Port Barrington and Lakemoor.
